Dr Nathan Stewart is highly regarded in Perth for achieving great results with abdominoplasty surgery, commonly known as a “tummy tuck”, for post pregnancy and post weight loss.
Using specialised techniques learnt from his international and national plastic surgery training, Dr Stewart can achieve a flattened abdomen and reduce belly shape by removing excess skin, repairing separated abdominal muscles, and creating a new naval (bellybutton) in the correct anatomical position. Incisions will be made below the bikini and underwear line to reduce scar visibility. Contouring is performed via liposculpture to help create aesthetic shadows that enhance the appearance of the stomach wall.
Dr Stewart will provide you with all the costs associated with surgery at your initial consultation and is up front about his credentials and results. You can also take a look at the costs of common plastic surgery procedures listed on his website.
Are you embarrassed by your stomach or belly area? Do you have excess skin folds that overhang, or develop sores and rashes in the creases? Do you have back pain? Do you have difficulty exercising and using abdominal muscles, specifically when doing planks, crunches, or sit-ups? Have you noticed core instability when doing daily activities? Many men and women with these issues benefit from abdominoplasty surgery.
Yes – Abdominoplasty surgery is covered by Medicare (item number 30177 for post weight loss patients, and item number 30175 for post pregnancy patients) providing you meet the criteria.
For weight loss patients (item number 30177), a weight loss of at least 5 BMI points needs to be documented. For some people, this is a weight loss of approximately 15kg. When looking for a surgeon to perform your abdominoplasty, you need to seek someone who has formal qualifications, there are surgeons who perform this operation that are not fellows of the Australian College of Surgeons. They may be “cosmetic surgeons” for example.
Dr Stewart is an Australian trained Specialist Plastic Surgeon (MBBS MS FRACS Plastic Surgery), which means he has obtained the highest qualifications for Plastic Surgery in Australia.
Dr Stewart has completed international fellowship in the UK, as well as completing the extensive 5 year Australian Fellowship in Plastic Surgery. He additionally holds a Masters Degree from the University of Sydney with his work on wound healing.
Through this experience, Dr Stewart has learnt specialised techniques, to not only reduce the size of your stomach and remove excess skin, but to reshape the abdomen into a more proportional and aesthetic shape, while reconstructing your abdominal muscles. This art of plastic surgery only comes with expertise and experience. If you wish to look at some of Dr Stewart’s reviews and previous patient’s pre and post operation photos, you can find Dr Nathan Stewart on Instagram and Facebook.
While abdominoplasty surgery can appear daunting, Dr Stewart and his team will make the whole process as straight forward as possible. In most cases, the recovery is approximately 4 weeks and the most common phrase patients say after is…. “I wish I had done this sooner!”.

This is a commonly asked question by women undergoing breast augmentation.
My recommendation is no heavy upper body activity for at least 6 weeks after surgery.
I would avoid gym work and exercise completely for the first 2 weeks while the wounds healed. Some gentle walking is fine. Once the wounds are healed you can increase your level of exercise but avoid running and activities that engage your chest muscles. Go slowly and importantly listen to your body. If something is sore then stop.
At the 6 week mark you will see me for a further checkup, and if everything is going great then there are no further restrictions.
