Dr Stewart charges according to the recommended fee schedule by the Australian Medical Association.

This is different to the medicare rebate.  Typically, most insurers do not cover the amount per procedure that the AMA recommends and this is what is referred to as your “gap”.

Some procedures are complex, and consist of multiple item numbers (procedure payments).  The amount charged per procedure generally decreases with each procedure charged.

Our team will be happy to give you an itemized quote that will show all expected charges.  You should read this and ask any questions you have about the fees and charges before undergoing surgery.

Occasionally due to unexpected findings your procedure may change, or additional item numbers need to be claimed.  We will always endeavor to ensure your out of pocket costs doesn’t alter if this occurs.
